10 strategies for you to make your work experience stand out in your curriculum vitae

  1. Remember to Include dates, job titles, company names and the town/city of work in the previous work experience section. This is a very elementary error that surprisingly a lot of people make
  2. Remember that Dates don’t have to be exact. for example Summer 2009 or June – Sep. 2010 will work.the company you are applying to will do a background check anyways if they are  interested in hiring you
  3. For chronological Resumes, just remember to relate your previous work expertise with the skills needed in the position that you are currently applying for
  4. Make sure the dates are simple to see. Nobody wants to waste 10 mins just identifying the things you had been doing 5 years back.
  5. It is okay to have your cv in reverse chronological order. Meaning that the latest job is mentioned directly on top. This would also guarantee that your curriculum vitae stands apart from all the other candidates.
  6. In order to save space (and paper), ensure that you don’t speak too much about less relevant or less recent jobs. For example,if you’re applying to yahoo as a designer,i’m certain that they will not want to learn about the hamburger flipping job you had when you were 15.
  7. How to exhibit a competency is more important than writing about when or in exactly which previous job coo you showed that specific ability. Also make sure that it is action oriented instead of sounding like a monotonous biography
  8. It’s really important to Provide a brief current job description showcasing the duties and achievements that are relevant to the job you are making an application for
  9. It’s a good idea to include volunteer work, part-time positions and vacation work.e.g.the soup kitchen you have been helping out at throughout the past four years or perhaps the little kids soccer team which you are the coach of
  10. finally, and very importantly, make the sentences short and to the point. This one thing alone will probably paint a good picture in the eyes of a hiring manager who must be sick of reading through tens of cv’s every single day

Follow these ten golden rules and your previous working experience will impress even the hardest of hiring managers. For even more golden techniques, browse this guide.
